The 2016-2017 school year was full of adventure and this culminated with our clinic with Performing Arts in Disneyland. We had the opportunity to sit in a real Disney recording studio equipped with headphones, music we had never seen before and Sal Lazano as our director. Here are the movie clips we had the opportunity to record. Keep in mind, we had never seen this music before we walked into the door. What an incredible experience this was!

Our first clip is from "The Incredibles". When you listen, you can hear the instruments that we didn't have with us at the time of the recording: strings, harp, guitar, etc. All other instrumental sounds are from us!

The next clip is from "Atlantas" and this is when we finally decided to relax and stop freaking out. It was in a more familiar key and a march, which we were comfortable with.

The third clip is from "Tangled" and here is how this process worked. We would rehearse the "scene" for a couple of minutes until we pretty much got the idea of how it was supposed to go. Sal would say, "let's do this!" and we would put our headphones on and play to a click track to keep us in time. When we were finished he would have Dan dim the lights and play our recording over the animated scene. It was so cool hearing our band behind the cartoon.

Our final and probably our favorite is the Castle Logo Theme. Nothing gives chills more than hearing us play behind this oh-so-familiar theme.
What an unforgettable experience... |
